George Toriello sent me this researched information on Ralph W. Bennekemper.  While researching Ralph, who apparently served during World War II, he discovered his father, William Bennekemper, Sr., served during World War I, and his younger brother, William Bennekemper, Jr. served during
the Korean War.

Ralph W. Bennekemper was born on March 13, 1924 while living in Brooklyn New York. The 1940 census reveals that Ralph W. Bennekemper was living on 151 Jefferson Ave. River Edge, NJ with his parents William, Sr., mother Margaret, and his younger brother, William, Jr.

The piece of evidence of Ralph’s military service is sparse.  George Toriello found his name on a draft registration list.  The other two points of evidence is his name Ralph W. Bennekemper is on the Hackensack High School Original Wall Unit and the fact that in The Record newspaper article of September 26, 1955 page 6 the Walter Scott Brown Post 226 American Legion, announced its new Commander, Ralph W. Bennekemper was to be Commander. Ralph W. Bennekemper had to have served in the military to be Commander of Post 226.
